Diana Getman Speaks on Agile Project Estimating with Planning Poker at PMI Silver Spring

On September 12, 2018, Scrum expert and Ascendle Chief of Staff, Diana Getman will lead a discussion on “Agile Project Estimating with Planning Poker” at PMI Silver Spring. The event will be held at the Sheraton Silver Spring Hotel, 8777 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.

Estimating the level of effort to complete a project is a challenge. In order to make strategic decisions, business leaders need to understand “How long will this take?”, and they need to know now.

The challenge is giving them what they need when they need it. You have to come up with estimates quickly, and react to constant change.

In this presentation you’ll walk step-by-step through using planning poker to quickly create size estimates which you can then use to come up with realistic completion timeframes.

By attending this talk you will:

  • Understand how the planning poker process works and how you can immediately apply it to your own projects.
  • Learn why this technique is superior to hour estimates and produces fast, consistent results.
  • Understand techniques to do planning poker with a distributed team.
